Ralph Champagne Revue – “Grinch”

Ralph Champagne Revue just put out a limited picture disc EP titled “Grinch”, and this is exactly the kind of holiday music I didn’t know I needed. Producer Blag Dahlia discovered Ralph rummaging through a dumpster behind his studio, whistling Flight of the Bumblebee perfectly, and signed him right there, and that story alone tells you Ralph isn’t your typical artist.

Drinking Up Christmas is the real gem here, it’s got this jazz-inflected sound that takes you back to when crooners actually ruled the airwaves, but Ralph throws in enough of his trademark humor to keep it fun. He also tackles the song from The Grinch movie, and he doesn’t try to reinvent it or make it overly complicated.

Dahlia got some serious talent in the studio for this one – Josh Freese, Dexter Holland, Petra Haden among others. You can tell these are pros who know how to record a proper track. The whole EP has this polished sound but never crosses into being overdone or too slick. And my favorite one is “Something New”.

Ralph’s first record ran from outlaw country to yacht rockabilly to novelty songs, so the guy clearly isn’t worried about fitting into one box. This holiday EP continues that approach. Make sure you check out Introducing Ralph Champagne if you haven’t already. Follow Ralph Champagne on social media to stay in the loop about the full LP dropping in May 2026.
