Mercy Kelly – “Out in The Night”

Mercy Kelly are back as a four-piece, and the new lineup hasn’t dulled their edge one bit and I love what they created. “Out In The Night” proves they can still deliver the kind of anthemic, hard-hitting rock that got people listening in the first place.

The song wastes no time getting going, packing in all the energy and grit you’d expect from this band. They’ve always had that northern roughness to their sound, and it’s still there, but there’s also this romantic streak in the writing that keeps things from getting too one-note. It’s a good balance, and it works.

Mercy Kelly aren’t reinventing anything here, and that’s fine because they don’t need to. They know their strengths and they’re sticking to them with confidence, and the band sounds focused and deliberate, like they’ve figured out exactly where they’re headed and they’re committed to getting there.

Calling this a comeback would be missing the point entirely. This isn’t about returning to former glory or recapturing past success. They’re simply doing what they do, just with a renewed sense of purpose and a tighter setup. Follow Mercy Kelly on social media to stay in the loop about new releases coming later in 2025.
