Elke Louie – “Killing Time”

Elke Louie is an indie folk singer-songwriter from Gympie, Queensland, and “Killing Time” is her first single, released in early November. She recorded it at Mantle Records with Clare and Lawrence from Those Folk, and it’s a preview of her debut EP coming out in early 2026.

The song is about stillness and looking inward, dealing with those quiet stretches when time seems to move slower. Elke’s voice sounds raw and honest here, which gives the song a personal edge. She wrote it with Clare Quinn back at Song Muster 2022, and the emotion behind it is pretty clear. Elke has talked about how this was the most open she’s been in her writing, and you can hear that when you listen.

She directed the music video herself, keeping everything low-budget and real to her Gympie upbringing. The single has gotten good feedback from reviewers in the US and UK who noticed how gentle her voice is and how the song pulls you into a reflective headspace.
