The Synthwave Brothers – “Only Love Remains”

The Synthwave Brothers dropped their new single “Only Love Remains” on October 30th, and it’s a solid listen. Marcellus is in Boston, Ivo is over in the Netherlands, and somehow they made this long-distance collaboration work without any of the usual messiness that comes with it.

The song is about peace and unity when the world feels like it’s falling apart. I kept coming back to the melody because it gets in your head and doesn’t leave. Marcellus handles all the instrumentals, and he uses these synthwave filters on the piano that create some really interesting sounds. The drum beats have this hypnotic quality that keeps everything moving.

Ivo writes the lyrics, and he’s good at making you feel something without overdoing it. When you put his words together with Marcellus’s production work, the result is pretty cinematic. They’re clearly aiming for more than just another electronic track, and they pull it off.
