Julian Sometimes – “Outside Man”

Julian Sometimes, the project of Los Angeles musician and music supervisor Julian Drucker, just released his new single, “Outside Man”, and I love it. It’s safe to say it’s one of the best tracks I’ve heard in the last couple of weeks.
The song began as a piano ballad, and while that sense of intimacy remains, producer Chris Chu helped shape it into a polished pop track without losing its honesty. From the unique writing style to the rich vocals, the talented artist makes a song that is hard to forgot.
At its center, “Outside Man” explores alienation and identity, the first spark came during a neighborhood walk, when noticing a water tower led into the lyrics. That everyday detail makes the song feel personal and unforced. Recording stayed close to home, with keyboard parts tracked in Julian’s apartment and vocals finished at a friend’s studio in Burbank, giving the finished track a grounded energy.
With “Outside Man”, the talented artist Julian shares a more vulnerable and thoughtful layer of his songwriting. Follow Julian on social media to stay updated on what he has planned for the rest of this year.
