Mollie Edsell – “Joyride”

Joyride” is an Americana-pop track that taps into that deep emotional space a lot of people find themselves in right now, uncertain about the future but still holding out hope for something solid and real. It’s a lovely track and it deserves your full attention till the last second.

Mollie wrote “Joyride” solo on her living room floor, which makes sense once you hear about the heart behind it. From there, the song evolved into something much bigger, after a chance meeting in a Pennsylvania café, she linked up with engineer Eric Novroski and eventually started recording not just “Joyride”, but an entire EP. The track was recorded in less than a day, but it didn’t stop there. She later worked on it back in New York with Taylor Hurt (of Strawberry Launch), then sent it off to Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Sound for mastering. It’s safe to say that I’m a new fan of Mollie Edsell.

Mollie has been at this for years, starting back in 2017, and you can tell. There’s a sense of clarity in this release that speaks to where she’s been and where she’s headed. If you’re into country-pop with honest emotion and a grounded backstory, “Joyride” is worth a listen. Keep an eye on Mollie’s socials to stay updated on new music through the rest of 2025.
