Carrying Torches – “Opening Up”

Carrying Torches are back with their new gem “Opening Up”, released on July 25, 2025. The Chicagoland-based garage rock band has been steadily carving out a name with its energetic and emotionally charged songwriting. It’s safe to say I’m a new fan of the band.

“Opening Up” leans into the band’s knack for balancing grit with atmosphere. The song deals with themes of vulnerability and the fear of being truly seen, something frontman Justin Daniel touches on directly when describing it as a struggle between letting someone in and hiding your darkest parts.

There are shades of Hollywood nostalgia and gothic undertones sprinkled throughout, giving the track a cinematic edge that keeps it engaging to the last second of this stunning track. It’s moody, it’s raw, and it still carries that emotional punch that fans of Carrying Torches have come to expect after standout singles like “Good In Blue”.
