VERONNEAU – “Snow Time”

Veronneau’s holiday album Snow Time takes a different route than most seasonal records. The band applies their world-jazz style to winter classics, and it actually works. After finding success with albums like Joie de Vivre and Jazz Samba Project, they’ve turned their acoustic sound toward holiday music without making it cheesy.

Lynn Véronneau handles vocals while Ken Avis and David Rosenblatt play acoustic guitars, with Pete Walby on drums. Dave Kline joins on violin as a guest. They tackle familiar songs like “Santa Baby” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside” in their own way, pulling material from different decades. Since Lynn and Ken are married, their duet on “Baby It’s Cold Outside” has genuine chemistry. Their version of Joni Mitchell’s “River” proves they can balance sadder moments with the upbeat holiday stuff.

The acoustic setup keeps everything close and personal. The nylon string guitars and violin create a cozy listen without getting too sentimental. With only five tracks, the album doesn’t drag or try to do too much. Veronneau recorded this knowing exactly how they wanted it to sound, and that confidence comes through.

If you’re tired of hearing the same holiday arrangements every year, give this a listen. The band brings enough of their own personality to make these songs interesting again. Follow Veronneau on social media to stay updated on their new releases and shows coming up in the rest of 2025.
