Third Bloom – “Taken”
Third Bloom is a Brighton-based musician and visual artist, and his new single “Taken” is the kind of track that earns your full attention within the first few seconds.
It opens cold, stripped-back, bare beats with no warmth and nothing to ease you in. Then Tash Breeze’s vocal arrives, and it’s not what you’d expect. She’s not singing. She’s speaking, close and direct, like someone working through something they can’t quite shake. It’s an unusual approach and it lands hard.
There’s one chorus. It comes late and it’s earned. And when the track finally ends, it doesn’t wrap anything up cleanly. It dissolves, a faint warmth rising from underneath that’s almost soothing but not quite. It’s one of the best releases I’ve listened to in the past couple of days. “Taken” follows “Grace” and “Unturned“, and it’s clear Third Bloom is building something with real intent. He’s a visual artist too, and that sensibility comes through. This is music with atmosphere and texture, not just sound.
Stream it now, and follow Third Bloom on Instagram, Facebook, and Bandcamp to stay across whatever he puts out next this year.
