The Widows – “Skin of Gold”
The London rock group The Widows share their latest single, ‘Skin of Gold’. This track is a preview of their newly released album, Between Two Worlds, you can listen to it here.
The song is a post-punk disco-funk track that brings a strong wave of hope against fear. When you press play, the energy hits you right away. It is loud, fast, and completely alive. The four members, Kim Le Tan, Francesco Manzi, Roger Salsas, and Vince Johnson, put immense effort into the recording sessions. They worked at Space Eko East Recording Studio alongside producer Alex McGowan to capture their raw live energy on tape, adding extra guitar and vocal textures later.
The group has never been interested in staying inside the borders of one specific genre, pulling influences from the entire rock and roll canon and beyond. Following their earlier single ‘False Idols’ from July, this new song proves how well they blend different styles into something that makes you want to move.
You can hear that live feel in every second of the track. The instruments push the rhythm forward, making it hard to sit still. It grabs your attention immediately and refuses to let go. The group is also taking the new material to the stage this autumn. They performed at The Dublin Castle in London on Thursday 15 October, and later at The Fiddler’s Elbow on Friday 13 November.
