The Eisenhauers – “Gambler”

The Eisenhauers just released their first new music in years, and I’m glad they did. “Gambler” is really a strong way to return. The BC folk-roots duo, made up of Sheree and Jeremy Eisenhauer, have always been about honesty in their songs, and this one really underscores that. Written by Sheree during a rough patch in their marriage, it digs into what it’s like to risk everything for love. That honesty is what makes it stand out. It doesn’t come across as polished or distant, it’s direct, personal, and easy to connect with.
One of the coolest parts of “Gambler” is how it was recorded, they tracked it live at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studio with a band that hadn’t even heard the song before. That decision gives it this real, in-the-moment energy. You can sense that everyone’s just reacting to the music as it happens, and it works perfectly for a song about taking chances. The addition of Jill Barber’s backing vocals adds warmth without taking away from Sheree’s lead.
If you’ve been waiting for The Eisenhauers to release something new, this is a great reason to get excited about their upcoming album, Back Burner. “Gambler” is streaming everywhere now. Follow the duo on social media to keep up with what’s next in 2025.
