Project Rod Williams – “So Over You”
Project Rod Williams’ cover takes a messy breakup and pushes it toward release, that point where you finally stop replaying the damage and start choosing yourself again and I just like how direct this release is, the emotion is plain, sharp, and easy to understand, and to be honest, it’s my favorite track of the day.
It has a heavy, bruised feel that fits the story behind it, especially with the line “You’re a cheat with freaky behavior”, landing like someone finally saying the thing out loud. Tim Condor’s vocal foundation gives the song a human center, while the newer version sounds more forceful and more settled in its anger.
I also appreciate that Project Rod Williams made this in an apartment studio, because the song has that close, personal feel. It sounds like someone working out a hard chapter in real time, without sanding down the rough feelings too much. The use of generative AI as a production tool is interesting here too, mainly because the song still comes across as personal and guided by a real point of view.
“So Over You” is an incredible track because it sounds honest before anything else. You should check out Project Rod Williams’ previous releases and follow the artist to see where the sound goes next.
