Odelet – “Raindance”

Odelet’s “Raindance” is really my favorite album of the week. This project lands somewhere in that hazy terrain Odelet has dubbed “Surrealist R&B” but it’s not locked to any one vibe. It lets in enough of the outside, echoing dub, ambient textures, scattered percussion, to keep you leaning in.
The vocals have this calm, personal quality that sticks with you, they’re mixed in a way that feels almost like a part of the instrumentation. Standout tracks like “Dirge” and “Know It All” need your full attention. If you’re the kind of listener who likes sitting with something that keeps revealing more with each play, “Raindance” is worth your time. Also, we need to talk about the beautiful cover art, faint outlines, moody gradients, and a little kettle lurking in the corner? It’s cryptic but fits the tone perfectly.
