NYRE – “Avoidant”

Hi guys! I’m in love with NYRE’s EP “Avoidant”. The moment the first song “It Should Be You” was on, I was hooked. This release is a perfect example of how to tell a story with the help of music and words, using beautiful and rather sad tunes and words that can touch the heart. Have you ever heard a release and thought that it was made for you? That’s “Avoidant” in a nutshell. NYRE has created remarkable haunting soundscapes and meaningful lyrics which makes her not only a musician but a writer who turns her suffering into art.

My favorite track was “Joke’s On Me”, it is a love song that has a sad and emotional feel to it. Of course, there is “It Should Be You” which has also received Single of the Year from Toronto Honours ’24. NYRE’s sound is grandiose, personal, and inescapable. Each song on “Avoidant” is like a verse in a very personal narrative, and another standout track is “Main Character”, it’s catchy as hell. Every song in the EP is proof of NYRE’s ability to capture the complexities of love, loss, and the messy in-between.

The EP provides a cinematic experience that is a musical language for moments when life feels overwhelming. Follow NYRE on Instagram and Facebook because “Avoidant” marks the start of something truly remarkable. Has music ever told you more about yourself than you could ever tell about yourself? That’s “Avoidant”.
