Manu Chevalier – “Planet Groove From Marseille”

Since Manu Chevalier’s debut album “Planet Groove From Marseille” dropped, I’ve been spinning this release non-stop and it’s pure fire. This guy from Marseille has cooked up something really special in his home studio and you can feel the passion oozing from every track.
It just makes you want to move the whole album. Manu does everything himself – saxophone, keys, drums, production – and it all sounds so smooth and polished. It’s one dude with serious talent and groove in his bones, you’d think it came from some fancy studio with a huge team, but nope.
“Before the Magic Has Gone” with Mason Blu is an absolute banger that’ll get stuck in your head for days, and tracks like “I Belong to You” show he can slow things down without losing that infectious energy, but “Get on the Dance Floor” does exactly what the title promises. “The World Is Falling Down” even hits different, it has this emotional depth that you don’t expect.
Manu’s own harmonies in the background give this personal touch that makes the whole thing feel intimate even though it’s so danceable and the guest vocalists bring their A game. This album is straight-up addictive.
Follow Manu Chevalier on social media, do yourself a favor, because this dude is going places and you’re going to want to be along for the ride.
