Mahto & The Loose Balloons – “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”

Mahto & The Loose Balloons’ new EP, “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”, is just beautiful. Recorded entirely in Mahto’s home studio and mixed by Matt Sykes of Downspout Records, it’s got this unpolished charm that makes it easy to connect with. If you enjoyed the Ep as much as I did, you should check their previous releases here.
There’s a cool little touch with “Crisscross”, a track borrowed from Niko Graham but reshaped to fit the Loose Balloons’ vibe. The rest of the songs lean into a raw folk style that’s clearly influenced by Nick Shoulder’s “Home on the Rage”, giving space for each idea to breathe without feeling overworked. The vocals carry a relaxed, honest tone that makes the whole project feel even more personal, like he’s playing these songs right there in the room with you.
It’s the kind of release that makes you curious about the next track and keeps you interested. Make sure to follow Mahto & The Loose Balloons online to keep up with new music and show announcements throughout the rest of 2025.
