Liyah Bey – “Abused”
Liyah Bey’s single “Abused” is the kind of release that makes you want to hear it again and again. She comes into this song with a lot of experience behind her, from major stage work to building her own path in Los Angeles, and that history gives this release a stronger impact. It’s one of the most talented artists I[’ve covered in the past couple of weeks.
What stayed with me most is how personal the idea behind it is. This is a song built around pain, silence, and the reality of living with abuse for too long without speaking on it. That alone gives it a lot of meaning, but it also comes across as something bigger than one person’s story. It feels meant for people who have been holding things in and have not had the words or space to say them out loud.
I also respect that Liyah is putting awareness at the center of her music. That gives “Abused” real purpose, and it makes the release easier to connect with on a human level. Even the lyric video adds something because it gives the message more time to sink in. Follow Liyah Bey on social media to stay updated on new releases this year.
