Keith Woodhouse – “The Planet Who”

With “The Planet Who”, Keith Woodhouse has delivered something really unique and I was excited to share it with you today. Listening to this album feels like listening to decades of experience poured into every single track. Keith is sixty years old and he brings a wisdom and rawness that you just can’t fake.

This hypnotic atmosphere is created by the blend of spoken word poetry over rock backing that pulls you right in. You can hear those Bob Dylan and Roy Harper influences, but Keith makes it his own thing. His words are delivered in an urgent, mysterious way which is why people call him a cryptic prophet.

Nothing else I’ve heard this year hits like ‘Razzamataz’, Keith’s vocal delivery is infectious and the energy is infectious and you hang on every word. With its darker, more introspective vibe, “Psychiatrik” takes you to a completely different headspace. Keith’s range and his ability to create these vivid sonic landscapes are both on display on both tracks.

It’s even more impressive that he recorded this entire album in his bedroom at a care home using a mix of old-school analog gear and digital effects. Every recording feels personal, like Keith is playing just for you. It has this perfect lo-fi quality that doesn’t take anything away, it adds character.

Great music is made from passion and dedication, not fancy studios and this album proves it. All those years of craft shine through here and Keith has been writing since he was fifteen. Be sure to follow Keith Woodhouse on social media to keep up with his journey.
