Emma Whybrow – “Amnesia”

Emma Whybrow’s new single “Amnesia” has an unusual backstory that makes it unique, and you don’t hear songs like this every day. The song actually started as a Bollywood tune, one that did well enough to land in the top 30 of the Australian Songwriting Competition back in 2024. That’s already impressive, but what makes “Amnesia” interesting today is how it has transformed over time.
The track has now been reimagined with the help of producer Robert Pippan, who is an ARIA award nominee and a member of the South Australian Music Hall of Fame. Together, they’ve turned it into a trance and dance track that feels much bigger and more energetic than its origins. I like that it still carries the story behind it, which came from Emma’s own life during the pandemic. She describes being in a comfortable place until her boyfriend left for India and returned 15 months later, acting like nothing had happened. That raw experience gives the title “Amnesia” a personal edge, it’s not just a dance track, it comes from a very real situation.
If you’re curious to see where Emma goes next, definitely follow her on social media to keep up with what she’s releasing in 2025.
