Coolonaut – “Tales From The Black Stump”
Hey everyone! Hayden here, and I’ve got to tell you how much I love Coolonaut’s new album, “Tales From The Black Stump”. I can’t wait to share it with you all because this album is an absolute gem! Shakeel has created something extraordinary here, playing all the instruments and recording everything himself in his home in Coolah. The whole album is drenched in that classic rock vibe from the mid-60s to early 70s, and it just hits all the right notes.
Each track on the album stands alone as a single, thanks to Shakeel’s discipline in keeping them around the three-minute mark and mixing in mono. This gives the songs a unique depth that makes them stand out. Every song is a journey, from the rhythmic power to the heartfelt lyrics about local characters and personal experiences.
One of my favorites has to be “Indian Boy”, which tells a poignant story about the essential workers in Australia. The raw, slightly messy sound is refreshing and gives the music an incredible energy that’s hard to resist. So go ahead and give Coolonaut a follow on social media, you won’t regret it!
