bridget mariie – “LESSONS OF CHIRON”

bridget mariie’s “LESSONS OF CHIRON” doesn’t feel like a debut album. It feels like someone finally letting the dam break after holding their breath for years. The songs are tense and personal but never fragile. They move in cycles instead of arcs, circling back on themselves like someone replaying a memory, not quite ready to let it go but trying to make sense of it anyway.
There’s a haunted clarity to her voice that pulls you right into the room with her. Some tracks are quiet and piano-led, like conversations whispered into a journal at 3 a.m. Others let distortion and guitar noise crawl in and take up space, not to overwhelm but to reflect the chaos the lyrics are sorting through. You get the sense these songs weren’t crafted for the sake of sounding good. And my favorite track is “Panic”.
“Bluebeard” stands out for how it talks about complicity without making excuses. “I Am” is stripped back but hits like a gut punch. And “Not Romantic” feels like the sharp inhale before the breakdown. It’s not easy listening, but it’s real in a way a lot of albums aren’t even trying to be.
If you’re not already following bridget mariie online, go fix that. She’s already working on more music for 2025, and judging by this record, what’s coming next isn’t going to pull any punches either.
