Blueprint Tokyo – “Neon Circuits and the Mission of Hope”

Something really special just dropped from Blueprint Tokyo with their new album “Neon Circuits and the Mission of Hope” and I can’t stop hitting repeat. This Oklahoma City band has created 16 tracks that sound like driving through a neon-soaked city at midnight with your windows down.

It’s different from their previous work. The electronic beats and guitar riffs are in this perfect balance that never feels forced or overdone. The songs flow into each other as if they were meant to be experienced together. It’s clean production but still has that raw energy you get from their live shows.

Everything sounds so effortless and I keep coming back to that. The rock elements aren’t drowned out by the synth work which adds this dreamy layer and the hooks are incredibly sticky. Days later you’ll find yourself humming these melodies. It’s obvious that the band have grown since their Blue EP, they sound more confident and willing to take risks.

The whole record is nostalgic, but it doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard to recreate the past. It’s not like they took the best parts of 80s synth pop and modern indie rock and made something totally their own. It’s pretty impressive for a full length album that the energy never drops across all 16 tracks. It’s the kind of record that works whether you’re driving alone or playing it at a party. It’s addictive and Blueprint Tokyo have really found their sound here. Be sure to follow Blueprint Tokyo on their social media for tour dates and new music.
