Alex Wellkers – “reach the stars”

Alex Wellkers’ new album “reach the stars”, it’s a 13 track release under Sidemount Snorkel Team Playtenfirm Records, and you can tell Alex had his hands on just about everything here, writing, composing, producing, and even handling the electric and bass guitars, drums via MIDI, and vocals himself. That kind of involvement usually leads to either a scattered result or a really unified one, and this falls into the second category.

One of the standouts for me is “We Knew It All”. The harp intro by Mercedes Bralo, mixed with cello from Noelia Diaz, immediately caught my attention. It’s not overly dramatic, it just sets a tone that’s warm and inviting. “Desert Island” stood out too, especially with Dima Faustov’s saxophones in the mix; it gives the track an unexpected depth that kept me replaying it. The variety across the album is another highlight. Each track has its own character but still feels like part of the same world, but to be honest, the one that grabbed my attention and I kept listening to is “she will say”, and I’m pretty sure you will love it as well.

If you’re into thoughtful, instrument rich releases that you can listen to anytime, “reach the stars” is worth a listen. Follow Alex Wellkers on social media, you’ll want to know what he’s dropping next in 2025.
