about-faces – “Not Been Back”

I’m really into this new release from about-faces, “Not Been Back” hits that perfect sweet spot between raw feeling and super clean production. It feels dialed in to everything about the track, like every element is just where it should be, but still has this gritty emotional weight to it. The sound is sharp, atmospheric, moody, but never too heavy handed and you’ll notice it right away. It just flows.

This song will hit you hard if you’ve ever walked back into your old neighborhood and felt that weird mix of comfort and disorientation. The verses are shadowy and slow burning, then the chorus comes in like a punch of memory you didn’t see coming. You can almost see the rainy Leeds skyline and hear the echoes of your younger self in the lyrics. It’s super inspired by The Cure and Peace vibes but with a fresh take on it, which is so magnetic in how it builds.

I’ve honestly had it on repeat and you should too, follow about-faces on Instagram and Spotify, blast ‘Not Been Back’ through your speakers, make sure you send it to your mates and your family because this one really should be heard far and wide.
