Rebelmatic – “DCxPC Live Vol. 50”

The album “DCxPC Live Vol. 50: Rebelmatic Live at Main Drag” is a live recording from the New York City band Rebelmatic. Craig Wehringer recorded the performance in Brooklyn at Main Drag, and Joshua Dobbs mastered the audio at Danger Room Recording Services, and this release marks the band’s second live LP with the independent label DCxPC Live.

Rebelmatic formed in 2008 and combines hardcore punk, funk, hip hop, metal, and soul. The group members include Creature on lead vocals, Alkatraz on guitar and vocals, Karnage on bass and vocals, and Ramsey Jones on drums. They have performed with groups like Death and Slick Rick, and they have appeared at major festivals such as AFROPUNK and Punk Island. Their sound is aggressive, rhythmic, and unfiltered, bringing direct energy to a live room.

The tracklist includes fourteen songs split across two sides of the vinyl release. Two songs stand out as absolute favorites on the record. The track “Peace” delivers a fast and direct punch with great energy. Another favorite is “Alive on Arrival”, which captures intense crowd energy and strong performance dynamics from the room. Every song on the record sounds raw and immediate, putting people right in the venue with the band.

This live record shows how strong a band can be when playing directly to an audience. Rebelmatic combines multiple genres into a single unified style that is natural and unfiltered. Their internal description of James Brown in a mosh pit explains the intense groove and heavy rhythm driving every single song forward on stage. The audio quality highlights every instrument clearly.
