CHANNELS – “MOTHER”
Chicago rock band CHANNELS arrives with their debut single, “MOTHER”, delivering a heavy, atmospheric sound that instantly pulls you right in. The group creates music for anyone questioning old beliefs, providing a high-octane soundtrack for modern life. Produced by Noam Wallenberg at Rax Trax Recording, this track captures a supernatural encounter with a divine presence that remains completely untamed and powerful. It is an explosive first introduction to a group with a bold message and a story worth following from day one.
The band brings together heavy influences from groups like Interpol, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, and Radiohead to build a rich rock identity. Jesse Greco lays down dynamic guitar work that creates a tense, assertive atmosphere mirroring a disillusioned populace. On top of that, Kelsey Montanez and Hannah Johnson bring hypnotic dual lead vocals that demand attention like a matriarchal spirit. Both contributors share mystical lyrics meant to spark deep reflection. Explosive dynamics and muscular hooks push people to open their minds and rebel against illusion. Every guitar chord and vocal harmony builds toward a massive boiling point, giving shape to a vision of the divine that is fierce and unapologetic.
The artwork for “MOTHER” matches this hypnotic, mind-bending energy. A figure sits quietly on a colorful rainbow-hued disc resting right in the middle of a glowing orange and blue orb. Striking black and white lines radiate outward across the entire image, drawing your eyes straight toward the center. This bold optical illusion mirrors the explosive dynamics and mystical roots woven into the audio and it looks mesmerizing and overwhelming all at once, perfectly capturing the intense supernatural vibe of the song in every single detail.
Everything about this release remains intentional, sharp, and totally fresh. It stands out as a brilliant first step for a band with something real to say. They offer a powerful new way to understand ourselves, making this exciting debut single an absolute joy to experience from start to finish.
