Kinshift – “Mercy Mercy”

There is something genuinely refreshing about a song that manages to pack a massive punch in just two minutes and eight seconds. “Mercy Mercy” by Kinshift, featuring vocal performances by Alysha French and Joshua Lakes, delivers exactly that kind of energy, and it blends classic gospel, neo soul, indie funk, and Motown pop into a rhythm that immediately gets you moving.

The artwork is great, and the arrangement on this track hooks you right away with a warm, driving groove that feels completely alive, which makes it easy to follow. Joshua Lakes opens with smooth and clear vocal lines that set a great tone, while Alysha French brings a rich, powerful voice that lifts the whole track.

Underneath the upbeat production lies a thoughtful message about moving away from judgment and choosing empathy, humility, and real human connection. It’s safe to say it’s one of the best releases I’ve covered in the past couple of days, and their unique talent and chemistry turn the song into a heartfelt conversation between two amazing artists; they definitely deserve your full attention for the rest of the year.

I love this release. It is bright, full of heart, and memorable from start to finish. I strongly recommend taking time to check out Kinshift’s previous releases to experience more of their borderless, uplifting music.
