Fierce Friend – “Put You Right”
Alan Grice has a solo project called Fierce Friend, and the Brighton-based multi-instrumentalist has a brilliant new single out ahead of his upcoming album, Blood Red Hills & The Uncanny Valley. The song is titled “Put You Right”, and it is an incredibly sharp piece of music that pairs driving guitars with soaring electronic textures. Fierce Friend has a history with bands like Electric Soft Parade, and that experience shines through in how tight and polished this whole thing sounds.
The track is built around a heavy, looping guitar hook that grabs you immediately. Instead of writing a typical political track, Fierce Friend focuses on the frustration of living in a world where everyone is just shouting over each other. It sounds exactly like a stubborn argument that keeps going in circles, where disagreement turns into an accusation and things get totally out of hand. The chorus is incredibly catchy and stays with you, balancing out a heavy, mechanical groove that feels like a machine pushed right to its breaking point. It is full of dry, biting wit and captures that chaotic energy perfectly without ever preaching to the listener. It is just straightforward, excellent indie songwriting.
Make sure to follow Fierce Friend on social media to keep up with his updates and catch his new music as we head toward the full album release this October.
