Kevin Driscoll – “Put It Behind Me”
Kevin Driscoll’s single “Put It Behind Me” is the kind of song that gets your attention because it’s rich and unique, and this is why I love it. Knowing it was written out of a very personal chapter in his life gives it an honesty that is hard to ignore. This is tied to divorce, loss, and the long process of trying to move forward, and that alone gives the song real depth without needing to overplay anything.
One thing I really respected about this release is how much of himself Kevin put into it. He wrote it and handled the vocals, acoustic guitars, and bass, so there is a strong sense that this is truly his song from start to finish. That matters, especially with material this personal. I was also interested in the fact that this is the first time he brought orchestration into one of his recordings. That seems like an important step for him, and it adds another layer to the single without taking away from the personal side of it. The collaboration with RHRi sounds like a big part of why this song lands the way it does.
More than anything, “Put It Behind Me” sounds like an honest release from someone putting real life into his work. Follow Kevin Driscoll on social media to keep up with new releases this year.
