Luka & the Nightbirds – “Last Resort”
Luka & the Nightbirds’ new album Last Resort feels like something made with no filters. It doesn’t come across like it was built piece by piece in a studio. It was recorded live, and you can really hear that. The whole thing has this raw, in-the-room energy that gives it a lot of character.
The lead single “Vertigo” stood out to me. It’s rooted in a personal loss, and you can feel that without anything being overstated. There’s no big drama or buildup. It just hits in a quiet way that sticks with you. The harmonica and violin are used in a way that really fits. And my favorite track is “I care about you”.
Luka has been around for a while, and this album sounds like him going back to something honest. He played almost everything himself, which gives the whole thing a personal edge. It doesn’t feel like he’s trying to make a point. It’s just him making something that means something to him.
If you like albums that can easily stick in your head, Last Resort is worth your time. Be sure to follow Luka & the Nightbirds on social media to see what else they release in 2025.
