Sean Griffin – “I’m in Love for Christmas”
Sean Griffin’s new holiday song “I’m in Love for Christmas” is genuinely charming. He wrote it in December 2005 right after meeting his wife – literally an hour before a live radio appearance. They’d only known each other since October, so this was their first Christmas together, and that early relationship energy comes through. The song has fiddles, sleigh bells, and acoustic guitars mixing Irish trad with some country touches. It’s cozy without getting too sappy, which isn’t easy for a Christmas track. He took a bit from John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” and added some Pogues-style stuff but made it his own thing. Now they’ve been married 20 years with six kids, which makes the song even better.
