Lennox C.B. – “Bones For The Boatman”

Lennox C.B.’s new album Bones For The Boatman takes a clear turn from his earlier solo work like Night Light, you should check it out. This time, he moves away from the softer dream pop and folk sounds and leans into something a lot darker and more stripped-down. You can hear the influence from his years in Broken Wolves, and fans of slower, heavier folk-rock will probably pick up on the Low inspiration too.

The album has a rougher edge to it, and that actually makes it more interesting and the pacing is slow, and the songs are built in a way that gives the story room to unfold. It follows a character trying to find peace while moving through a kind of hell. It’s one of the best albums I’ve covered this month so far. The track that hit me the most was “Meet Me By The Dogwood”. It’s the one I kept coming back to. Something about how it’s put together feels a bit more personal than the rest, without stepping outside the tone of the whole album.

If you like music that takes its time and doesn’t sound like everything else out there, check it out. Follow Lennox C.B. on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube to keep up with more releases in 2025.
