Julia Traser – “Hi You”

Julia Traser’s debut single “Hi You” is a strong and personal introduction to her sound. She’s based in Brighton and this track sets the tone for her upcoming album “Perfect Timing”, which comes out in November. “Hi You” is built around the baritone ukulele, which she’s been writing with since 2018, and you can tell it’s at the core of how she expresses herself musically.

The story behind the song is what really stuck with me. It’s based on memories from her grandparents’ holiday home in Lake Como, which got sold after her grandmother passed away. That last visit, shared with someone who didn’t quite belong in that moment, adds a layer of regret that’s easy to relate to.

Julia recorded the track at South Lanes Studio, a place that clearly means a lot to her. And even though she came in with just her ukulele demos, she brought in a bunch of local musicians to help shape the final sound. Friends she met through gigs, open mics, and uni. It feels like a community effort, which adds to the charm.

Definitely keep an eye on Julia and follow her socials to stay updated on new music in 2025.
