Tamar Berk – “ocd”

Tamar Berk’s new album “ocd” just dropped, and it’s probably her most personal work yet and pretty sure you will love it as much as I did. The whole record digs into the tangled loops of anxiety and overthinking, but it still sounds super catchy and sharp. The first track of the album “stay close by” sets the tone right away, it’s upbeat but definitely coming from an introspective place. It’s safe to say it’s the best album I’ve covered this month so far.

My favorite track is “time zone”, it hits in a really specific way, reflective, a little raw, and easy to connect with. Even without knowing all the backstory, it lands emotionally. There’s something about the pacing and mood that just works. The title track “ocd” leans into the chaos more directly, with trumpet, Wurlitzer, and synths that create this dizzying kind of energy. It’s a strange but cool combination that fits the theme of spiraling thoughts.

Tamar produced and performed the record herself, which is impressive on its own. The songs feel like pieces of something bigger, but each one still stands on its own. It’s the kind of album that feels honest without being over-explained, definitely worth a full listen.
