Matare – “Extinction Burst”

Matare’s debut album “Extinction Burst” is one of those projects that doesn’t try to fit into any one lane, and that’s what makes it interesting. Based in Atlanta, Matare clearly put a lot of time and thought into this one. You can tell right away it’s personal, sometimes raw, and shaped by a mix of post-punk, new wave, and alt rock influences.

Tracks like “Never-Ending” and “The Further That They Go” really stuck with me, not just because of their emotional punch, but because they go in unexpected directions. It’s one of the best albums I’ve heard in the last couple of weeks and if I had to pick just one favorite song, it’s probably “Revolution”, the energy hits right when you need it, and trust me, it will stick in your head for days.

It’s also clear Matare isn’t afraid to process heavy stuff like anger, confusion, and hope all at once, the album came out of real frustration with the world, but the way it’s translated into music feels honest instead of bitter. Follow Matare on social media to stay tuned for more music dropping later in 2025.
