Mike Stewart Theory – “It Reaches Us”

Mike Stewart Theory just dropped a new single “It Reaches Us”, and it’s a fun one. It kicks off the rollout for his upcoming album “Mikey2Hats Birthday”, and even though it’s not super fast paced, it definitely brings that funky, danceable energy. The song blends a trippy mix of psychedelic and indietronic vibes with an 80s soul groove that’s got some real personality.

The cool part is how casually it came together, recorded in studios across Austin, London, and Germany, with contributions from Marcus Praed on synths and Julio Figueroa on drums. Mike even sang in falsetto for the first time, channeling Pharrell Williams for a few minutes, which apparently cracked up his producer buddy. There’s also this unexpected Arabic style vocal in the middle that started as a goof but actually works and stayed in.

What I liked is that nothing about this track sounds overthought. It’s raw in a good way. They leaned into spontaneity and went with what felt right. If you like music that’s playful, a little weird, and made with heart, give “It Reaches Us” a listen. Definitely keep an eye on Mike Stewart Theory on social media for more tracks leading up to the album drop later this year.
