Kirsten Hildegard’s “Still the Waves” is wonderful from Based in Copenhagen and originally from New York, Kirsten brings a unique perspective shaped by her background in philosophical theology and her fascination with Danish folklore. That mix of intellectual depth and cultural storytelling gives this release a distinct character without feeling overworked. Because of the rich and unique lyrics, I knew that I needed to share the track with you guys.

Kirsten’s collaboration with Argentina-based producer Nick Honchar, conducted entirely online, resulted in a track that feels intimate yet spacious. Kirsten threads that literary inspiration into her own lived experiences, from the grief of losing her father to reflections sparked by the birth of her nephew. The vocals are powerful and expressive, allowing you to feel every lyric, and get this, this is just her debut single, and she has already made music like she has been doing this for years.
