Blunt Blade – “Forgiveness”

Blunt Blade’s new album “Forgiveness” feels like it came from someone who knows exactly what they want to say.
There’s a confidence to the mix that makes the whole thing hold together, even when it veers off into unexpected directions. Some tracks lean into that electronic meets indie zone, and then suddenly you’re knee deep in something that could soundtrack a dystopian dance party. My favorite track of the album is “Justified”. The production is tight without being overly polished, recorded in Winona but given that final shine at Abbey Road Studios, the record feels lived in and intentionally weird at times, like someone actually had fun making it. That matters.
Also, the album artwork is beautiful, a blue rose wrapped in thorny yellow leaves is a weirdly perfect match for the title “Forgiveness”. Soft, harsh, and memorable.
